Humans are obsessed with control
You know the one thing that pisses me off about this world we live in today is people's need to control others, I cite some examples:
1. Politicians pushing through unnecessary law policy to micromanage every aspects of their citizen's lives
2. The Catholic church pushing their Christmas message aggresively by telling young kids Santa doesn't exist and that the 'spirit' of Christmas is about the birth of a man who, lets be honest here, supposedly got brutally nailed to a cross in his early adult years, great stuff for kids that is
3. ISIL wanting to control the world with their Islam bullshit
4. Big tech companies such as Facebook and Google constantly pressuring us into revealing our true identities online, sell us to marketing companies then pound us with targeting advertising whilst controlling our web browsing which ultimately leads them to controlling our lives
5. Scientists dragging their feet with space research because let's face it, if they proved they could get colonists to Mars right now, they'd lose out on billions of money's worth of research grants given to them over the next twenty years which they can use to come up with alternate science to make tons of money that will ultimately control people
6. Medical 'professionals' telling us what's bad for us, controlling how much salt we're supposed to consume, or units of alcohol we're supposed to be limited to and generally annoying us with their bullshit
7. Climatologists constantly telling us it's our fault global warming is happening, despite them basing their evidence on a bunch of dusty fossils or some rotten silt sample from the middle of the arctic, and using that bullshit to control how much energy we're supposed to use
8. Oil companies deliberately interfering with research into battery technology or alternate power sources for cars, heaven forbid if that happened... they'd lose trillions because we'd no longer be putting petrol/diesel in our vehicles
Sometimes I feel I just want to bugger off to a tropical island, get away from all this crap.
Abstract Art #9
Here's my very latest 'pre-Christmas' abstract... I'm calling it 'Candy', or 'Sweets' if you're not American, which I'm not... but I'm still calling it 'Candy', sounds better.
Why? Because it reminds me of those hard sherbert sweets I used to have as a kid, like the ones where you dipped them in flavoured powders (can't remember what they were called), or Love Hearts, remember them?

Piss Relief
One of the most satisfying feelings ever is the one after you've been for a piss when you were absolutely bosting for a one beforehand... it is an exulted feeling and one made all the more so by the fact that I had to troop an abnormal distance in order to empty my bladder which increased my need... this is due to the fucking council-in-charge of the Bavarian beer shed they organised not having WC's... the fuckers.
Pre Christmas Piss-up
I'm out in my local town to meet family and others for a pre-Christmas gettogether.
I'm out on my own to start with (as usual) and will pub crawl until the time comes for us to meet at a Bavarian style 'shed' that has been setup in the local shopping square... there, some seriously strong Austrian/German beer will be imbibed. Looking forward to it, said beer is often much purer than the processed lager muck we Brits drink, despite being stronger you get less if a hangover the morning after, this is due to fewer chemicals used... I can attest to this because I've skied in Austria, had boatloads of beer and been lively enough to ski a mountain the next day.
Long live Bavarian Beer!
A Proper Pedestrian
Recently I, as a pedestrian, I have increasingly become more attentative of the traffic lights at pedestrian crossings.
Most people cross regardless of what the lights are showing provided that there are no vehicles approaching (although I've seen some dash across at the last second, much to the driver's annoyance). I used to do this and only do it now when the road is absolutely clear at times very early in the morning.
I guess I'm too old now to be bothered doing that scuttling like dash we all do, you know the type, meant only for short distances 'cos it's too uncomfortable to maintain. I also can't stand having to do that 'will he or won't he' pose for a sprint start in anticipation of the light changing, edging towards the start of the crossing thinking that I 'may just get away with it' despite that fact that the waiting drivers are gunning their engines in equal anticipation... I just don't need that stress of a decision.
I think the experience of being done for speeding has had an influence (albeit a couple of years ago), that 'grounding' effect it had has crossed over into a lot of things I do. Instead, now what I do is when I'm approaching a pedestrian crossing and the lights are on red, I slow down... and if they are still red when I arrive at the crossing, I wait. Even if others around me are dashing across I still wait. Then, when the lights change I press the button and patiently wait for the next change to red. When that happens I cross with a clear conscience.
Dear reader you should try it sometime instead of dashing headlong into the road, it may just save you a serious injury.

A test of your morality, if you will...
Imagine that we had advanced our technology to such an extent that travelling to distant habitable exo-planets within a few years was possible.
Now imagine that during such a mission a similar earth-like planet (with the same resources as ours) was found populated with humans who had reached a level of technology similar to our industrial revolution. As mission commander you would want to make contact with these people and, on making contact, there are a number of choices to make:
1. Be passive, study them, send your findings back to mission control
2. Be proactive, reveal your technological advantage to them to help them advance theirs
3. Be aggressive, use your technological advantage to bring them to their knees!
But before you decide you find out something... these people, whilst biologically the same as us, have one major advantage - they learn quickly, damned quickly. So much so that they've reached their industrial revolution in a fraction of the time it took us to get to ours and that, once they discover computers they will advance at a rate beyond anything like Moore's Law.
With this in mind your choices have some caveats:
- In being passive, you plan to study them in order to find out why they learn quickly with the intention of sending your findings back to mission control. However it takes time for you to do this, increasing the probability that our technological advantage could fall into their hands.
- In being proactive and sharing our technology with them you endanger us due to them advancing quickly to a level beyond ours so that they could reach earth and threaten us
- In being aggressive, in your attempts to conquer them, they fight back and your technological advantage fall into their hands thereby putting earth in danger of a revenge attack
So, which decision will you make?
And no, the mission hasn't got nukes on board.
And, again, no, the Prime Directive does not apply this isn't Star Trek.
And, yes, the odds of finding another planet full of humans is infinitesimally remote... fucking humour me!
World’s first anti-ageing drug could see humans live to 120
Now there's a contender for causing the zombie apocalypse, right here folks! :)

Photoshop CC 3D #101
Here's the latest two version of the 3D job I'm working on, the changes requested were for more wood textures with different angles on the grains and a version that looked more like plastic.
The plastic version |
The wooden version |
Using a master and then 5 Instances of the master for each face on the cubes really helps, particularly as I've had to do so many different versions. It means I can play with the texturing a lot more dynamically.

Photoshop CC 3D #101
I've been toying with 3D in Photoshop CC again recently, this is for an actual job, it's part of a logo for a school...
You know I had to manually create all six sides for each cube in order to achieve the bevel effect I wanted? Pissed me right off as it took ages, Photoshop's modelling isn't as sophisticated as I first thought it was.
However the process was sped up somewhat by using the 'Instance' feature, all I needed to do was create one side, Instance it 5 times then move them into position to make the cube shape. Any changes made to the 'master' face was immediately applied to all the others.

RoK Personal Best :)
Yay, I have achieved a personal best in Reign of Kings - my building has remained untouched by the retarded actions of other players for one week! It's also a first that the server itself has stayed online long enough for me to be able to build and maintain my building for one week and that I have managed to avoid being kicked/banned through my own actions or the indirect actions of another player.
These are the things that rule the daily life of an RoK player... and it's only just beginning it's beta test period!

Staying the Course #8
Well I went to the party and rather naively thought it would be a boistrous piss-up, quite the opposite in fact. They hadn't finished their meal so I sat there chatting until they all finished then they went home!
And I gave up my pub crawl for that?!
So now I'm lying bed this morning with a massive hangover and nothing satisfying to justify it.
The moral of the story is this - avoid 40th birthday 'parent' parties unless you're one yourself!

Staying the Course #5
NOISE.
Yeah, this place is way louder and kicking than where I've been this evening. 90's music dude!
Anyway this pub is the last before I head to the party... where I've been told the music is gooooood ;)
EDIT 1: By the way, beautiful bar staff in this place :)
EDIT2: It's Halloween night so fancy dress costums are everywhere... I was served by Heidi, when she went off to sort out my order, had to tell Super Girl that I was being served, but damn! Did I love both of them!!
Staying the Course #4
Next pub.
Now this place, I have spent many an enyoyable time :)
I was also turned away recently by the bouncers due to, I guess, looking too pissed.
Either way, this pub has a special place in my heart as we have all gotten drunk and boogied to the best 80's and 90's music has to offer :)
Unfortunately this place simply can't draw the crowds like it used to, I remember when the dancefloor was so packed you had to plan ahead in order to go for a piss (the toilet was, well, hard to get to) now I can just get up and moonwalk there.
EDIT 1: I went for a piss but didn't Moonwalk there, Health & Safety stopped me.
EDIT: 2 lol, evan after they've played 'Thriller' there is still Horse Racing being shown on at least two TV's in this place... there, right there, is a First World problem folks!
Staying the Course #3
Next pub.
This one is slightly rowdier due to a heady mixture of it being an Irish pub and full of drunken RWC fans, Kiwis or Aussies notwithstanding!
This is a pub that I've boogied in regularly. They play some cracking music.
EDIT: Having said that, I think I've criticised the resident DJ here before about playing too much crappy Reggae stuff, he's just come in and seen me...
EDIT2: Oh yes, and I think this is the place where I caught my cold too!
EDIT3: No-one, touches my pint
EDIT4: Uh-ho, lights have been turned down, music a little louder :)
EDIT5: Better finish my pint and move on, a group of lads have come in and taken the table near me... they are all a lttle too 'refreshed' for my liking... in other words, they'll want the table I'm sat at, which will involve some hitherto conversation that I can't be bothered to engage in.
Staying the Course #2
Okay, so I've now moved to another pub. I'm on my own (everyone else has gone their various ways, including my brother who has gone to the party) and I need to kill a few hours then get a taxi to the party venue...
The pub I'm in is one I've been in many times before and one that I've blogged about before. To recap, it's the one where I feared for my life when watching England draw a group game that we really should have won... and because of that it raised the ire of a crowd that were too young and way-too-drunk!
Tonight it's quite chilled, probably wouldn't be if England had had been in the RWC final, lost or otherwise.
The thing about this place that intruiges me is that damned huge glitterball hanging from the ceiling above me, I've never had the chance to strutt my stuff here because we always go elsewhere to boogy... ah well, maybe some other time.
Staying the Course #1
Right, I've been invited to a birthday party, however, I need to kill time.
You see, it's a mate of my brother's but not one of his ex-school/uni/neighbourhood mates, no, this one was spawned from a mutual family/kids connection, i.e. they met at the hospital when their wives were in labour and now they've got at least one kid the same age so they socialise a lot due to that.
Now, I reluctantly came out to the pub today to join various family members (including my brother) in watching the RWC final (hence my last post), and my bro' tells me he's off to that party after the game.
I'm invited, but only later on, I presume that's after all the booked-meal-consumed/kids-taken-home stuff.
That leaves a large group of possibly very drunk fourtysomethings.
So order to stay the course I need to do a very strategic pub crawl...

We've been shown a lesson in top quality Rugby today.
Congratulations New Zealand, commiserations Australia.

Back off holiday
Ahh man, I get back home from a cracking week in North Cornwall and go for a night out in my beloved home town.
Said town has a brand spanking new Walkabout Pub which has been converted from a rather pretentious wine bar... problem is, I still think some of the nobs from the previous place are still coming here... it's going to take a fair few Rugby games shown here to weed them out...

Holiday... erm, NO photography
I should have been following on from my previous posts and added some shots of the walks I did today however the vews, whilst spectacular in the usual Cornish style, didn't merit it when compared to the other pictures...
We walked around Tintagel Castle today, alleged birthplace of King Arthur. I say alleged because the information plaques posted around the place went to great pains to explain it as such. Despite that, clearly, someone important in English history resided there so it was worth the visit.
One thing to note, the stairs leading up to the castle are bloody steep and very tiring!
This is my last full day here on the North Cornish coast and I have to say that I have enjoyed it thoroughly. I must mention the Port William pub/hotel, it's very good with clean, comfortable rooms and very friendly, professional staff... the food is awesome too. A massive thumbs-up to St Austell brewerys from me :)
Back home to the Midlands tomorrow to plug myself back into the ratrace.

Holiday Photography #101
Not much going on during our morning walk so no interesting pics from that trip, however our afternoon walk took us to Boscastle, scene of the infamous floods of 2004. It's all been rebuilt since then and they've done an amazing job considering the carnage.
I took a walk up to the headland that's in front of the harbour entrance, it was a breathtaking view:
We then got back to Trebarwith Strand where I was able to get some pretty decent sunset pics, this is one of them:

Visited the Eden Project today and walked around their two Biomes - Mediterranean and Rain Forest. Seeing the word 'Biome' couldn't stop me thinking about Minecraft!
The Rain Forest Biome was the more interesting of the two in my opinion:
I couldn't stop myself messing around with the shutter speeds again :)
The other Biome was considerably dryer and smaller, and had some interesting plants and birds:
It had other plant and wildlife, mostly birds, including Blackbirds and Robins, all that didn't seem to be too bothered by humans. They had quite a large exhibit of grapes growing, kind of made me wonder if they had enough to produce their own wine.
The Rain Forest Biome was the more interesting of the two in my opinion:
Some bloody big plants |
There was one hell of a diverse range of plant species ranged throughout the place and the carefully climate controlled environment had me sweating cobs within 10 minutes. It didn't have as much wildlife as one would expect for a rain forest-type environment but from what I could glean out of one of the workers there they only bring in the minimum amount needed in order to maintain the eco-system. For instance they didn't have any fish in the water because of the complexity of looking after fish and they don't really add anything positive. They did, however, have quite a few Roul Roul Partridges about, who didn't seem bothered by all the humans and quite happily wandered about pecking around for food.
There was a huge water fall at one end of the dome, which required a bit of a trek upwards to get to, it was worth it though:

Yeah, well I won't be buying THAT game ever...
The latest game via Steam Greenlight, called One Life, locks you out of the game when you die in it, so you won't be able to play it again.
So I hand over £10, play it, die in-game at some point and I'm not able to reload it? What a completely, utterly stupid concept for a computer game, I may aswell send just send the devs a tenner and tell them to go do something useful with it, like spend it down the pub!
This is taking reality in gaming too far... there's a fine line between reality and playability, striking that perfect balance takes careful planning. This looks like it was decided on a night out whilst pissed-up and while I'm not averse to funny pissed-up conversations where, occasionally, some good ideas come up, this one deprives people of their hard-earned cash.
I'll be there'll be plenty of Steam refunds going on with that game.

Here's another example of playing around with a slower shutter speed, it's tricky to get the right settings because you have to control the amount of light entering the camera, too much and the picture will appear too 'bleached' and with a slower shutter speed too much light is always the problem.
ISO, aperture and F-Stop settings all come into play in order to get an acceptable picture:
Water is a great medium for messing with slower shutter speeds... you need a steady hand though, I got lucky with this one although there is still some blur, if I'd had my tripod with me it would have been much better.
Here's another example:
Again, anything that is not water is slightly blurred despite my best efforts at keeping the camera steady, glad I'm not a heavy smoker otherwise it would have been a lot worse!

Holiday Photography #101 - St Nectan's Glen
Visited St Nectan's Glen today, what a place, steeped in history and religious significance it has a waterfall that simply takes the breath away...
Obviously I used it as an exercise to play with my camera's settings :)
Here is the waterfall in it's entirety, with a standard 'scenery' setting:
Now, here's a closeup of the lower part of the waterfall Photoshopped out of two with different shutter speeds:
The right-hand side of the pic is the one with the slower shutter speed and it's bloody difficult to keep the camera still when you're standing in a foot of water, hence the sightly blurry rocks and moss! If I'd had my tripod with me it would have been much better but I couldn't be bothered to carry it around. The left hand side is using the camera's sport mode which uses a very, very fast shutter speed.
You're supposed to come away from St Nectan's Glen with an invigorated spirit and a renewed sense of optimism and love... I'd like to think that everyone else who was there felt that.

Photoshop Exposure Filter
It's amazing how much a picture can change with just a small amount of tweaking in Photoshop's Exposure filter, take this picture I took:
Even though the background loses some detail and becomes slightly 'posturised' the whole picture is brighter with more 'depth' and increased emphasis on foreground objects. So sometimes it's worth fiddling with the exposure control to see if you can get more out of your pictures.
No filter correction of any kind |

A much needed holiday...
Finally off on a week's break to sunny Cornwall... much needed after all the bullshit of this year so far and I was getting punch drunk and snappy at work because of it.
We stopped off in Barnstaple for an overnight stay and had a nice a nice meal in an Italian restaurant called Giovanni's, I had a chicken risotto which was very nice.
Haven't seen much of the town itself but it's interesting to note that the taxi driver who took us back to the hotel told us that Barnstaple is a dying town with little to no new commercial opportunities and pubs closing left, right and centre due to, and this is his opinion: "all the people living here who are on benefits aren't spending their money in the pubs due to the Government's austerity cutbacks, they're probably getting their booze from the cheaper supermarkets and staying in...". It's crap even during the tourist season even though Barnstaple is right in the heart of Devon's major tourism triangle of Ilfracombe and Croyde on the coast.
Still, the Wetherspoon pub there looked pretty busy to me, as was Giovanni's, which I recommend to anyone who is visiting.
We're off down the Devon coast and into Cornwall today for a week's worth of beach combing, walks and wildlife photography where I will continue my quest for the 'ultimate snap' :)

The MET switches tactics
Apparently the Met have stopped casing the Ecuadorian Embassy.
Nice bluff... the moment Julian Assange steps outside to finally go get a fresh pair of pants they'll pounce, arrest him then wonder why the hell they didn't think of this £12 million quid earlier...

2001: A Space Odyssey
Just watched it, Blu Ray version.
I think that monolith was just a missed component piece of some furniture from a highly advanced alien version of Ikea. I bet the owner was pissed to discover it was buried under 40ft of dust on a dead moon...
...and what is it with that foetus at the end? I've never really understood that.

5p Bag Tax
When our Government announced that all shops in the UK will be charging 5p for plastic bags from the 1st October I thought at the time "No worries, I use my own for when I go grocery shopping..."
But the reality of it hit me when I went into my local town to get some non-grocery items... without a bag.
At first the concept of paying for plastic bag didn't even come into my mind as I strolled nonchalantly towards the shops, I mean, we're all so used to just being given a bag to hold our purchases... so it hit me in Boots as I walked toward the counter with a deodorant stick in my hand, I paid for it and quickly declined a bag as I thought "Ah well, it's small enough to fit in my pocket."
Then I went to HMV, and, browsing through the Blu Ray section, decided to treat myself to their offer of 3 Blu Rays for £20. At the counter as I handed over £20 the girl asked me if I needed a bag, I indicated that I would and she, rather apologetically stated that "They cost 5p" and "Would I like a small or large bag?"... so I found myself fishing in my pocket for 5p and guess what? I didn't have a 5p coin and had to hand over a £1 coin, to which she then handed over 95p's worth of change to weight my pocket down! Now, across the country, THAT is situation most people will find themselves in come Christmas time!
Clearly it will promote cashless payment methods even more now (I chose to use cash because I happened to have it in my pocket). That, or people will hoard 5-pence pieces.
Next, Poundland as I needed some spray bleach, conveniently I'd chosen a large HMV bag so I was able to use that when I paid for my items but what if I'd gone straight there without a bag? I'd have come out with my purchases and 95p in my pocket and that is simply a damned bizarre thing to have coming out of a shop like Poundland!
Finally I decided to get some lunch from Gregg's and, yet again, into the HMV bag went the sausage rolls. "I'm getting used to this." I thought. When I emerged from the shop I looked around and noticed that loads of people carried re-usable bags, "I guess they're all adjusting too!" I said to myself.
So I went home with one bag instead of three, there's environmental changes for the good happening right there folks!
It's not a major inconvenience as far as I see it, certainly not as much as our tabloid press has been banging on about it but it does require me to 're-adjust' my routine a bit. I've been told that some people haven't taken to it at all and staff have had items literally thrown back at them! That's not on at all, if you can't afford 5p for a plastic bag then you shouldn't be out shopping at all. Clearly it's a law aimed at improving the environment and that can only be a good thing.
I think this is as important as the law that banned smoking in pubs, that totally changed our lifestyles for the good and this will too.

I saw this wheeling around my place a few weeks ago so I rushed upstairs, grabbed my camera and took this, not many buzzards 'round this here parts...

Whoa!
Fuck me, stuck in a little posh style oasis.... I shit. You. Not, this place is majoraly posh compared to the usual pub related stuff I am used to ... bloody expensive beer though....
Out for a few sherberts :)
After one hell of a, well, hellish week I am out tonight to meet up with some old buddies of mine. To forget about work, to chill, kick back, sink a ton of beer and catch up on all the gossip.
I was up at 3.30am this morning, couldn't sleep, read for an hour, headed to work and was in by 6.30am, grafted all day, got super stressed and now I am tired, nerves are shredded, running on hopes and prayers and am hoping this evening will wash it all away...
and I'll probably sleep until noon tomorrow!

Reign of Kings
Me and a mate of mine have been building like crazy in RoK, we're on a popular, well-run server and we've got one hell of a structure on the go!
We fully intend to continue building upwards, simply because we can't build outwards... the server rules restrict the size of our guild crest so subsequently our conquered territory is limited.
Great view though...
I've fallen off it, so I can vouch it's high!
Hopefully we can keep it going until the weekend when we'll got more members into the guild and wreak some righteous knightly medieval majestical havoc!
'Majectical'? Is that even a word?!
Moody or what?! |

Lost in the written wilderness...
Haven't updated the blog in a while due to hangovers, work and total and absolute disappointment over England's loss to Wales last weekend... I literally lost the impetus to day anything except feel miserable.
I've gotten over it now, I think... plenty of time to prepare for two more days of alcoholism plus gaming and Rugby over next weekend ;)
We just need to bloody-well beat Australia.

RWC #12 (I think?)
Right, time to check out the Rugby pulse of Knowle village centre and see if any pubs are making an effort to show England v Wales, which, to me, is a bloody big game!

RWC Bad Dream
I've just had a bad dream:
England 20 - 25 Wales, 3 minutes left, England have a lineout on the Welsh 22... and then I woke up, FFS!
Lastest Hitman title delayed until march 2016
Article here
Delaying a game in order to fit more content into it? Wow, that's unusual... if it had been EA or Bungie, they'd have released it anyway and charged us for the content as an add-on download later on, probably around March 2016.

Cadbury Creme Eggs
I love Cadbury Creme eggs... I just wish they made them all year round, still, I suppose we wouldn't crave after them so much.
I've got to print, from what I can see, new artwork onto cast wrap vinyl for application to some large size wooden model eggs... I get all the best jobs!
Pic below is one that has the old artwork on, the wrapping looks a bit ropey but that can't be helped considering the shape.

Take a step back...!
Well those last few posts seemed to make no sense but they backed-up the immense hangover I had throughout Saturday and some of Sunday. I literally have no memory of how I got home, the beer scooter strikes again!
We play Wales next Saturday, 20:00, at Twickenham and I'll be in a pub somewhere getting drunkenly stressed... again.
What is with England and sport that seems to send our collective national stress levels into the stratosphere? I'll bet all those Kiwis weren't bothered by their team's performance against the Pumas because they know that their team will pull out the stops when it matters.
Our lot will just keep running on the ragged edge, hoping for a bit of luck and a crap performance from the other side.

RWC #5
Next pub... they have a band in front of the dancefloor, actually, I tell a lie, we were in a previous place of alcoholism but it wasn't named... and long may it be unnamed you fuckers.... whuhaaaaay!
RWC #5
Fourth pub... at least I think it is.. bugger it, whatever... aaand booogey, yeah baby, yeah!
RWC #4
Okay we won, and got a try bonus... But, we played badly plus Fiji didn't plat that well themselves...
Now, there are teams that can play badly, lose, yet win a tournament... we need to play waay beyond that..
FFS, roll the next game of totat stress...
RWC #3
I am the only person in this pub wearing an England away shirt... in fact, apart from my brother (who is wearing a plain white England Rugby top, sans sponsors) we are the only two people wearing colours for a RWC game, in this pub...
Read into that if you will... whatever.
RWC #2
Second pub... and they serve Carling :)
I skipped the other pubs I'd planned to crawl 'cos my brother txt'ed me and said he was in the pub we were going to watch the match in... sooo 4 pints in and all is good baby!
RWC #1
Arrived at the pub (a Wetherspoon) to start my RWC celebration to find that they're having a problem with the Carling tap, had to have a Carlsberg instead... not a good start.
Ahh well, at least a pigeon hasn't shat on me...
Ahh, you've gotta love the internet!
This is quite possibly the funniest conversation thread I've read in a looong time ;)
It started out with me, whilst writing an artworking guide, doing some grammar checking on whether I should use 'rooves' as the plural of 'roof'.
As usual I did some Googling and, as most people do, clicked on the top result... and what a top result it is! The arguments in the thread following the explanation is internet gold. I certainly shows how much humanity is heading down the toilet!!
The screenshot below is possibly the best troll I've read in ages:
If I'd been drinking tea at the time it would have been all over the keyboard.

Rugby World Cup fans urged to plan ahead for travel...
Yeah don't go for the 'Rugby Special' train advertised at Waterloo, if you do, you'll spend half-an-hour or more queueing when you could have caught other trains on other routes and been well on your way to Twickenham.
It's not the train itself that's the problem, it's the ridiculous organisation by the so-called 'security' people that will marshall you up one side of the platform then back down the other side so you end up back where you started next at a load of ticket barriers that aren't closed off thereby allow people to queue-jump in front of you.

Kegel Exercises
I found myself reading this article today because apparently exercising the kegel muscle regularly can considerably increase the intensity of orgasms. I, erm... ahem, read about that whilst trolling through Google News articles... but hey, who doesn't want better orgasms, right?
Anyway what you're supposed to do initially is to find the kegel muscle so you can isolate it for the exercise routine. You do this by peeing, then, whilst attempting to keep your buttocks and upper leg muscles relaxed, reduce the flow of wee, if you successfully manage to do that, you've found the kegel muscle.
I tried this and ended up peeing all over the toilet seat and floor.

Train Fail
The trains failed me this morning... I checked my London Midland app to see if my train was running and it indicated that is was, when I got to the station it was delayed by 15 minutes due to the train 'running late out of the depot' ... hang on?! Surely if that was the case the damned app would have reflected this, it's not like I live next door to the depot?!
The next train to arrived was packed like sardines so I waited patiently for the one that was delayed, and it had loads of seats available.
I got to work 15 minutes late.
...this is how I roll in life, it's THAT interesting.
